Access & Student Success
We support students as they seek out opportunities to grow. Our goal is to provide prospective students with information, resources, and questions to ask themselves so that they can best determine where they want to go abroad.

Our Commitment to Access and Student Success
At CIS Abroad, we believe that international education should be accessible to all students. We are driven by a vision of a more compassionate and connected world, and we empower students to become global citizens through transformative experiences. We work closely with study abroad offices and faculty nationwide to expand access and reinforce education abroad as a critical high-impact practice. Here’s how we align with our values of Fun, Passion, Teamwork, Cultural Curiosity, and Change and Growth.
We increase access: we know that an affordable education is critical to many students, as is support prior to, during, and after their time abroad. We aim to ensure that every person has fair access to the resources and support they need to succeed and return as career-ready global citizens (see our Learning Outcomes reports). #changeandgrowth
We value differences: we believe that every person has unique potential, and an education abroad experience is a great way to access that potential. Diverse perspectives create strong teams, and strong teams are more innovative, adaptable, and able to solve the thorniest of problems. #teamwork
We foster success. We're not just opening doors; we're providing the support and resources people need to thrive. This includes creating a culture where everyone feels welcome, valued, and safe to be themselves. This psychological safety is foundational to learning and growth. #culturalcuriosity
We demonstrate these commitments through our:
Accessible programming - We offer a comprehensive online program/course finder to help students discover options that match their academic goals and interests; we offer programs at various price points and various times throughout the year; we offer customization of program elements to US institutions so that every student has access to a program that furthers their goals.
Sources of additional funding - we offer scholarships, grants, and affiliate discounts to provide financial support to help make study abroad a reality for more students. We help students make their financial aid work for them abroad.
Membership in organizations that specialize in student support and uphold best practices - we maintain membership and participate in the organizations in our field that provide standards, best practice, advocacy, and professional development for international educators. These are: NAFSA, DA Global Access, The Forum on Education Abroad, PULSE, AIEA, OSAC, The Global Leadership League, and CANIE.
Well-trained, caring staff - we strive to hire and retain a diverse staff in the US and on-site abroad with varied backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, enabling us to better understand and serve our students' needs. We have access to professional development and expert content from the organizational memberships, have internal professional development resources and expertise, and are committed to staying curious.
