Studying abroad changed my life in all of the best ways and CIS Abroad made it all happen!! Through CIS, I was able to make my first friends and integrate into the culture way easier than I would have on my own.

CIS Abroad gave me the opportunity to visit a country that I have dreamed about living in since I was a little girl through affordable means and a safe environment.
Rachel Yurchisin
Juniata College
I met so many life long friends and had so many life changing experiences. My acceptance and understanding of different cultures grew during my time abroad and I loved expanding my knowledge on Australian culture.
I appreciated having multiple points of contact (both stateside and in Australia) to address academic and social concerns. Even before the semester began, CIS Abroad provided information that enhanced my preparedness and put my parents’ minds at ease.
Maddie Grossman
Elizabethtown College
Studying abroad has helped me realize how much I am capable of and how much there is to learn from all different parts of the world. It is what you make it to be, and no matter what, it is truly an experience of a lifetime.
Kendra Stubblefield
University of Colorado - Colorado Springs
I just wanted to thank CIS so much for all the help they have given me through the CIS Newcastle application. I really can’t express how much I appreciate what they have done, and without them there would be no way that I would be able to take this trip that will definitely change my life. Thanks to CIS, I had all of my information I needed in order to make my trip successful!
Justin Lefkowitz
University of Denver
My favorite excursion that I was able to take was a four-week long road trip where we traveled from Melbourne all the way up to Cairns along the east coast of Australia. We got to see so many cool sites and just camp out every night and live on our own. I think in this time I was able to learn so much about myself and my ability to adapt to new environments and just try out new things in new places. Even something as simple as driving on the wrong side of the road for an American was a really cool experience for us to do and just figure out how to make our way in another country. Overall, there were so many great memories and people that I met and places that I've been to over my time abroad, and it's an experience that I'll cherish for the rest of my life.

I loved the trips I got to plan with my Australian friends, and that wouldn’t have happened had I not prioritized getting to build relationships with them early on, as opposed to traveling hard and fast from the start. While I am grateful I got to travel, I am more grateful for the lifelong relationships and memories I’ve made.

As a student athlete, the University of Newcastle is amazing for active students. There are plenty of new sports to try and organized semester long athletic competitions between the residence halls. It's also a short trip to the beach for those keen on taking up surfing. I'll always remember my time in Australia and the many experiences studying abroad provided me.
