This CIS Abroad Leadership Summit is an amazing professional development opportunity for leaders at every level of their career. As a mid-level professional, I learned so much during this full-day training. The topics closed some of the gaps that I had when transitioning into a leadership role.

Summit Details

Join us for a one day leadership summit right before the Forum Annual Conference in Toronto, where we will provide you with tools for your toolbox to increase your knowledge in the following areas:

  • Power skills - Emotional Intelligence and Team Building & Management
  • Hard skills - Data-informed Decision-making and Forecasting & Budgeting.

Who should attend this summit?

This summit is designed for International education professionals who manage people, projects, budgets, or strategy.

Attendees will participate in four workshops:

Power Skill 1: Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
We are all aware that our emotions drive our behavior and impact our team members in both positive and negative ways. Before you can improve in any other power or hard skill, you first need to understand your own EQ, and how it impacts your confidence, compassion, and connection with others. This first workshop will build upon an assessment we will do prior to coming together and give you a strong foundation to use throughout our day together.
Power Skill #2: Team Building & Management
Do you know one of the top competitive advantages that companies and offices have at their fingertips? Teams! In this day of constant change, teamwork remains the one sustainable competitive advantage that often goes untapped. Effective teams trust each other, engage in conflict and difficult conversations, and are aligned towards common goals. This second workshop will help you put these building blocks in place.
Hard Skill #1: Data-informed Decision Making
We’ve all heard the term data-driven (or data-informed) decisions, but how often do we actually turn to the data? As professionals we make a lot of assumptions throughout our day, however, when armed with the right data and tools, we may discover that our assumptions are wrong and we can make better decisions that help us and our teams work smarter, not harder. This session paves the way for an easier (yes, easier!) and a more fun future.
Hard Skill #2: Financial Acumen: Budgeting and Forecasting
Profit margins, fixed and variable expenses, conversion rates, revenue streams…..oh my! As leaders we are often looking at financial spreadsheets, or asked to create them. However, as educators, we may shy away from them because our passions align more with the experiences we create and the impact they have on our students. This session gives you a skillset that will make you feel more confident in your role, and also build trust with your team.

We're proud to run a successful, sustainable business and are excited to share some of our hard-earned skills with you!
